Why We Take Deposits

At McGuigan, every appointment is carefully prepared for. Our stylists reserve dedicated time for each guest to ensure you receive the exceptional service and attention we are known for.

Unfortunately, late cancellations and missed appointments create gaps in the diary that are very difficult to fill at short notice. This directly impacts the income of our team and prevents other guests from securing appointments.

To help protect our team’s time and ensure fair access to appointments for all clients, we require a small deposit when certain bookings are made.

Deposits help us reduce missed appointments while allowing us to continue delivering the high standards and personalized service that define the McGuigan experience.

How Deposits Work

Online or Phone Bookings

A 50% deposit is required when appointments are booked:

  • Online

  • Over the phone

  • Via our booking app

Your deposit will be applied to the cost of your appointment on the day.

Rebooking In Salon

We encourage guests to rebook their next appointment while they are in the salon.

When appointments are booked in person before leaving, we will usually not require a deposit.

Rebooking in salon helps ensure:

  • You secure your preferred stylist and time

  • Our team can manage their schedule effectively

  • We maintain the highest level of service for all clients

Rescheduling Your Appointment

We understand that plans sometimes change.

If you need to move your appointment, we kindly ask that you reschedule rather than cancel where possible. Our booking system makes this simple online, or our team can assist you over the phone.

Rescheduling helps us manage the diary more effectively and allows other clients the opportunity to book available times.

Cancellation Policy

To respect our team’s time and other clients waiting for appointments, we kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or change your booking.

If appointments are cancelled within 48 hours:

  • The deposit will be forfeited

If a client does not attend their appointment:

  • The deposit will be retained as a no-show fee

Multiple Late Cancellations

Clients who repeatedly cancel appointments with short notice may be required to:

  • Pay a higher deposit for future bookings

  • Prepay for appointments in advance

This policy helps ensure fairness for our team and other clients.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive late for your appointment:

  • We will always do our best to accommodate you

  • Your service may need to be shortened to avoid delaying other guests

  • In some cases, we may need to reschedule your appointment

If we are unable to complete your service due to late arrival, the deposit may be retained.
